Abstract


POTENTIAL OF BEETROOT JUICE AS ANEMIA SUPLEMENTATION

 

Abstrak

Kebutuhan zat besi pada kehamilan secara signifikan terus meningkat sejalan dengan bertambahnya usia kehamilan. Sebanyak 48.9% ibu hamil di Indonesia mengalami anemia defisiensi besi. Stress oksidatif berkontribusi terhadap kejadian anemia defisiensi besi Zat besi sebagai pengobatan utama anemia defisiensi besi diketahui ikut serta dalam peningkatan radikal bebas melalui reaksi Fenton and Haber–Weiss. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menginvestigasi kadar antioksidan GPx pada tikus bunting anemia yang diberi suplementasi jus umbi bit dan zat besi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan desain Randomized Posttest Only Control Group Design. Hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan uji ANOVA One Way. Subjek penelitian terbagi dalam 5 kelompok pengamatan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah jus umbi bit dosis 3.6 gr/BB memiliki kemampuan yang lebih baik untuk mencapai kadar Glutation Peroksidase (GPx) sesuai dengan kelompok tikus sehat dibandingkan suplementasi zat besi 1.08 mg/BB. Kesimpulan peneltian inin adalah jus umbi bit terbukti berpotensi lebih baik untuk menyeimbangkan antioksidan pada penderita anemia defisiensi besi.
